At Ravenswell Primary School, we aim to promote more physical activity where possible. Since the outset of the Active Schools Process, we have given every child the opportunity to become more physically active throughout the school day, and also at home.
New Skipping Ropes: We have conducted a whole school survey where every child was asked about skipping. More than 80% of children would like to see skipping return as a daily activity during yard time. The Active Committee has provided brand new skipping ropes to be used on our brand new yard spaces!
Olympic Athlete Visit: The Active Schools Committee have organised through “Sports for Schools” to have Caradh O’Donovan, Olympic Athlete in Karate to visit the school this coming March. She will be demonstrating her karate skills as well as holding workshops with every class. We are really looking forward to her visit!
Movement Breaks: Students have great fun using GoNoodle and The Body Coach to help them stay active and alert at various points in the day. Active Lines help us stay warm, especially on those cold wintry days and everyone always looks forward to the 10@10:
After a busy time moving schools, we have resumed our Park Run training…
Playground Game of the Week: Students on the Active Committee have been working very hard implementing our playground games of the week in our new school yards. Everyone from Junior Infants right up to 6th class has gotten involved. Well done Active Schools Team!
6th class came up with novel ways to keep active while you wait for your turn as an extra challenge…
GAA Blitz: Boys from 6th class participated in a GAA Boys’ Blitz held at Bray Emmets Grounds in October. They had great fun and the girls are now looking forward to theirs.
