At Ravenswell Primary School, we aim to promote more physical activity where possible. Since the outset of the Active Schools Process, we have given every child the opportunity to become more physically active throughout the school day, and also at home.
Latest News
New Skipping Ropes: We have conducted a whole school survey where every child was asked about skipping. More than 80% of children would like to see skipping return as a daily activity during yard time. The Active Committee has provided brand new skipping ropes to be used on our brand new yard spaces!
Olympic Athlete Visit: The Active Schools Committee have organised through “Sports for Schools” to have Caradh O’Donovan, Olympic Athlete in Karate to visit the school this coming March. She will be demonstrating her karate skills as well as holding workshops with every class. We are really looking forward to her visit!
Movement Breaks: Students have great fun using GoNoodle and The Body Coach to help them stay active and alert at various points in the day. Active Lines help us stay warm, especially on those cold wintry days and everyone always looks forward to the 10@10:

Playground Game of the Week: Students on the Active Committee have been working very hard implementing our playground games of the week in our new school yards. Everyone from Junior Infants right up to 6th class has gotten involved. Well done Active Schools Team!
6th class came up with novel ways to keep active while you wait for your turn as an extra challenge…
GAA Blitz: Boys from 6th class participated in a GAA Boys’ Blitz held at Bray Emmets Grounds in October. They had great fun and the girls are now looking forward to theirs.
***Run Around Ireland Challenge***
Students from Junior Infants up to Sixth Class have been taking running breaks at various times in the week. The challenge is to run around 30 different coastal towns in Ireland, starting with Bray!
The children are really enjoying this and all are eager to mark off each town as they run further and further. Here are some pictures and videos we’ve taken so far. Even the rain doesn’t stop some classes from getting their run done!!!
***6th Class BasketBall Blitz***
Sixth Class went to a basketball blitz in Ballywaltrim. They had a fantastic day and would like to thank Michelle, Conor and John for coaching them over the last number of weeks!
