The Microsoft Partners in Learning programme is a European and Global competition that celebrates teachers and pupils who demonstrate new and innovative teaching practices using technology in their classrooms.
Ms McHale and her class were delighted to have their blog project “Birds of Bray” nominated as one of the Irish entries in the European Forum. Ms McHale was invited to the Forum, held in Moscow, to present their project. Their project was awarded first runner up in the Knowledge Building and Critical Thinking category in Moscow.
They were then invited to present the project at the Global Forum in Washington D.C. in November 2011. They continued working on the project over the following months and Ms McHale travelled to Washington to present it at the Global forum. They were again honored to be awarded first runner up, this time in the Extending Learning Beyond the Classroom category.
On returning home, they were also shortlisted in the Eircom Junior Spider Awards, and presented their project at the Empowering Minds Robo-Show in St Patrick’s College Drumcondra.
We were very proud of their acomplishments. You can look at their blog, Birds of Bray, here.
