Coding a Beebot in Ms. Mulcahy’s 4th Class

This week we learnt how to code a Beebot. We had worked hard learning how to code a human bot and writing algorithm’s and now it was our chance to write some codes for the Beebot.

We discussed how the sequence of instructions was important as they help us to know what to do and how to make things happen. We discussed how to write an algorithm and reviewed that an algorithm was the steps to make something happen.

We first predicted how we might program a Beebot. Each group was given out a pack with a mini fake Beebot and some programming commands. We discussed how we could record these on a whiteboard.

As part of our group activity, each group was given a digit. The group had to use the command cards to program the Beebot to move around their digit. The had to log their code on their whiteboard. Together each group reviewed the challenge and de-bugged the Beebot in order to fix any problems. It was so much fun to get involved and use the whiteboard to hlp use when we were coding!

Below have a look and two videos of our coders in action!

Well done 4th Class on some amazing problem solving skills!
