Predictions in Ms. Mulcahy’s 4th Class

We have been learning about how to make an accurate predictions in 4th Class. We used the book ‘A bad case of the Stripes’ to practise making predictions.

This was the front cover of the book.

We used a flip chart and worked as a class to make a prediction anchor chart. We wrote all the important things we need to think of when making a prediction. We decided that when making a prediction we needed to use the illustrations on the cover and the title to make a ‘good’ prediction. We did this before we read the story.

This was our anchor chart.

We decided to write out some good prompts when starting our prediction to remind people to use full sentences. We also talked about making connections to our lives to try and back up our predictions. We now understand why it is important to give a reason why for your answer.

These are our prompts.

This is how you show everyone you are making a predictions. Make a ‘P’ with your fingers.
