STEM Projects Ms. Mulcahy’s 4th Class – Maglev Trains

While learning about transport we wanted to see if any forms of transport used magnets to move- lucky for us we found that Maglev Trains using magnets to move. A few countries are using powerful electromagnets to develop high-speed trains, called maglev trains. Maglev is short for magnetic levitation, which means that these trains will float over a guideway using the basic principles of magnets to replace the old steel wheel and track trains.

We wanted to design our own Maglev Trains. We used paper and constructed and designed a train. We placed a small magnet inside the train and made a track on a white sheet of paper. We used the magnets to move the trains along the track. Take a look!
